Nyonyachef goes HK

Well...take a break from cooking.....and do some EATING for a change.

I travelled almost every corner of the world,...eat anything that is edible.
Most travellers commented on HongKong food,is it good ?!!! I still think that Malaysia still has the most varieties of food. Let's see what's HongKong food...

Noodles...!

HK do have lot's of varieties, mainly from the neighbouring country...China.

If you travelled most of the street in HK you will definitely find these similar noodles shop selling these varieties of noodles:

Noodles with Pork Leg & Luncheon Meat.

Rice noodles with oysters
Salty & Spicy noodles served with beef

Wan Tan Noodles with Pork Leg
Wan Tan Noodles with Sui Kow
HongKong Famous Beef Noodles
Average price HKD $22-$30

Seafood...!

Most of the seafood in HK are actually imported from Malaysia,..Sabah to be exact. Quite common, nothing exotic,..except for the "Fry Crispy Fish Skin"... goes very well with a can of beer.

Let' move on to the...Meat Section !

Char Siew , Roast Pork, Suckling Pig, Vineger Pork Ribs,...and of course the Famous Goose. Only in HongKong. Something we don't normally have...tasty ?

...tough !

What I loved about HongKong is actually the street food,....junk food ! Try this !

Street Food..!

Curry Fish Ball, Pig Intestine, Cuttlefish, Dry Fry Duck Breast, Japanese Octopus Ball,...& the ultimate famous HK Chow Taufu/Stinky Taufu.

Delicious ! Some will like it,...some won't...

A friend of mine from Penang will live to tell, how he likes it,.Live experience ! Going,..go...ing....ah.....open wide....

Arghhh....erghhhh.... #%+?!-<." Speechless. Not many will appreciate the aroma/taste.

Pityful of him.

After 2 weeks in HongKong..this is what we ended up eating...home cook food

Gulai Tumis with asparagus n prawn
Curry salted fish with pineapple
Kiam Chai Boey
Steamed fish with fragrant lemongrass n lemon leaves

Gone within seconds.

I have lots of Malaysian friends working/staying in HongKong and if you asked them, what they normally eat when in HK...they will tell you Vietnamese food, Thai Food,...n blah blah blah....HOMECOOK FOOD.

Verdict...HongKong food ?! Once you tasted it,....you tasted all !

Too Tor T'ng (Pig Stomach Soup)

This is one of the nyonya authentic dish. Normally served during a special occasion like CNY or during chinese prayers.

This dish is dedicated to all the meat lovers

This main task in preparing this dish is getting rid of the smell !

Clean the pig stomach by washing it with water & plenty of salt, repeat this process a few times. Once cleaned, boiled it with spring onion, peppercorn & ginger till soft (20 minutes). Fry the pig stomach for another 5 minutes, this will further reduce the unwanted smell.
